Early last year I needed to have time out of our business, being a husband and wife business my office duties were left up to Les.

Luckily the year before I made a goal to have all office Procedures and Systems documented. Thank goodness for these documents as I was able to train an offsider in 4 days with the help of my procedure documents. We still use these documents from time to time but peace of mind is priceless! Having these documents updated each 6 months or at worst 12 months.

If you need assistance compiling a procedure document, please give me a call. I am happy to help in any way.

Potential Fire Hazard

Power supply needs replacing

Sold between May 2010-January 2012

Lenovo’s ThinkCentre M90z all-in-one computer has been put on the recall list by the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission (ACCC).

It has been put on the recall list due to a potential fire hazard as a result of overheating of the product. Some metalised capacitors inside the power supplies may be defective, leading to possible overheating and smoke.

The model number is M90z. Computers with potentially affected power supplies can be identified by the machine type and serial number located on the bottom of the computer. The unit was sold nationally between 1st May 2010 and30th January 2012.

Customers should immediately stop using the affected system and unplug it from the power outlet. Consumers with a potentially affected computer should visit http://www.lenovo.com/aiopsurecall or call the Lenovo Support Centre on 131 426 noting the serial numbers on the back of their machines and check if the machines are affected. If so, customers should contact the Lenovo Support Centre on 131426 to organise for a replacement of their power supply by Lenovo’s technicians. The technicians will remove the old power supply.

Data recovery can be extremely expensive. If your HDD crashed would you be able to access any photos you had stored?

We have had a few clients with HDD failure this week, (even external HDDs fail) some with over 10 years of family photos. In this age of digital technology we don’t have our digital photos printed for family and friends, we just share them on facebook or via email.

10 years ago we would have asked family & friends if they had any photos of our family, now photos seem to be a thing of the past. Even having 2 external HDD for backups just doesn’t seem to be safe.

May I suggest a trip down memory lane and delete old photos you dont want and print the ones you really value.

There are some amazing deals on the net for “Photo Books”. This is a great way of sharing with family and friends.

With this wet weather our computers tend to “play up”. I have noticed a few computers coming in (more than normal)for the above reasons. On further investigation we have discovered the fan overheating due to dust build up and this is mostly the cause of computers shutting down intermittently.

The “Beeping” computers are usually the memory has moved due to the change in weather. This is easily repaired with a clean of the memory teeth and reseated.

January has nearly passed and now is a good time for a “TuneUp”. We recommend this annually and costs $229. Due to the amount of work performed we require your computer for 2 working days. (Les is very particular and guarantees his work totally) A few examples of a TuneUp are: remove all dust from inside your computer, check all updates, remove temp files, cleanup registry and many more procedures, generally making your computer run as it should.

If you mention reading my blog I will give you a 15% discount.

Please ring me for further information. 3117 0988
